Experience Points (XP) allow you to improve your character over time, buying
new dots in Attributes, Skills, Disciplines, and other traits.

VIEWING YOUR XP:

+xp
  - View your current XP total and XP log
  - See recent XP gains and expenditures

+xp/costs
  - Display the XP costs for all trait types
  - Quick reference for character advancement planning

SPENDING XP:

+spend <trait>=<dots>
  - Spend XP to increase a trait
  - Example: +spend Strength=3 (buy Strength to 3 dots)
  - Example: +spend Auspex=2 (buy Auspex to 2 dots)

Trait Types:
  - Attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, etc.)
  - Skills (Athletics, Academics, Streetwise, etc.)
  - Disciplines (Animalism, Auspex, Celerity, etc.)
  - Backgrounds (Resources, Allies, Contacts, etc.)

XP COSTS:

Attributes:
  - New Dot x 5 XP
  - Example: Strength 2 to 3 = 15 XP

Skills:
  - New Dot x 3 XP
  - Example: Academics 1 to 2 = 6 XP

In-Clan Disciplines:
  - New Dot x 5 XP
  - Example: Auspex 2 to 3 = 15 XP (for Malkavian)

Out-of-Clan Disciplines:
  - New Dot x 7 XP
  - Example: Potence 1 to 2 = 14 XP (for Malkavian)

Backgrounds:
  - New Dot x 3 XP
  - Example: Resources 2 to 3 = 9 XP

Clan/Generation:
  - Cannot be purchased with XP (story only)

EARNING XP:

XP is awarded by staff for:
  - Active Roleplay - Regular attendance and quality RP (weekly)
  - Story Participation - Participating in plots and events
  - Character Development - Deep character moments and growth
  - Community Contribution - Helping new players, running scenes
  - Creativity - Exceptional logs, wiki contributions, artwork

Typical Awards:
  - 2-3 XP per week for active play
  - 1-5 XP bonus for exceptional roleplay
  - 5-10 XP for major story conclusions

ADVANCEMENT GUIDELINES:

- You can only raise a trait by 1 dot at a time
- Some traits require IC justification (new Disciplines, etc.)
- Staff may request roleplay before approving certain purchases
- Check +xp/costs before spending to avoid mistakes

EXAMPLES:

Buy Strength from 2 to 3:
  +spend Strength=3
  Cost: 15 XP (New Dot 3 x 5)

Buy Academics from 1 to 2:
  +spend Academics=2
  Cost: 6 XP (New Dot 2 x 3)

Buy in-clan Auspex from 2 to 3:
  +spend Auspex=3
  Cost: 15 XP (New Dot 3 x 5, Malkavian in-clan)

Buy out-of-clan Fortitude from 0 to 1:
  +spend Fortitude=1
  Cost: 7 XP (New Dot 1 x 7, not Malkavian in-clan)

STAFF COMMANDS: (Staff only)

+xpaward <player>=<amount>/<reason>
  - Award XP to a player
  - Example: +xpaward Marcus=3/Excellent roleplay this week
